One of my most special memories of Milton College is of being a reader for Dean Daland.  It was a privilege to read to this most wonderful of men, and was very difficult to take the money he never failed to give me as payment.  The time I spent reading to him was like having my own extra class and being tutored by him. I never failed to learn something new each time I was lucky enough to have an hour with him.  He was patience personified and always explained words or terms in the material I read that were new to me or that I did not understand. I cannot begin to tell you what an honor it was for me to spend time with this erudite, humble man.

Milton College offered me a great number of experiences that were very special and would have been available no other place. One of the greatest of those was having Dean John N. Daland as a teacher and a friend.
